Empower people to help more horses.
The Assistant Manager – Offsite Services will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless execution of Blue Cross and Horse Rehoming & Fostering strategies, fostering a culture that empowers teams and prioritises matching horses with suitable services swiftly and efficiently maximising the number of horses we can help by 2026!
More about the role
In this key role, you will achieve horse-related targets while ensuring your team, including Regional Adoptions Facilitators, Foster Yard Coordinator, and volunteers, delivers high standards of horse welfare and adheres to national processes. Managing and motivating your team is key to providing first-class off-site horse care and development opportunities.
You’ll work with the Volunteer Coordinator to expand offsite services, setting up regions of remote volunteers to support adoptions and post-adoption checks, ensuring timely ownership transfers.
Daily, you’ll ensure smooth offsite operations, handling and training horses as needed. You'll ensure horses are quickly prepared for adoption, collaborating with the Assistant Manager Offsite Services (North/South) and colleagues to deliver timely assessments and training while supporting foster yards and volunteers.
At our Rolleston rehoming centre, we provide onsite accommodation for pets in our care 24/7. Overnight shifts are usually undertaken by team members who live on site. Occasionally, you will be expected to carry out night checks or stay in on site accommodation overnight when the resident team members are either not working or away for a period of time. These duties are organised on a local rota and shared between all members of the team.
The working hours are 37.5 per week on a rota which includes weekends and bank holidays.
About you
As an experienced manager with expertise in horse welfare, you excel at driving performance and addressing under-performance. You'll lead a team of Regional Adoptions Facilitators and a Foster Yard Coordinator, empowering them through effective management and coaching. Your innovative, adaptable approach, combined with excellent communication skills, ensures success in a high-pressure environment.
With strong analytical skills, you'll rigorously monitor and evaluate to drive continual improvement, keeping your team engaged and motivated. Your resilience and emotional intelligence help you thrive in emotionally charged settings, showing empathy and support for your team and the public.
