6 Months Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover) Working Hours: 42.5 Hour Per Week. Horses and Ponies Protection Association are looking for a talented equestrian to join the Equine Care Team on a 6 Month Fixed Term basis (Maternity Cover). The successful candidates will have sufficient horse husbandry skills and experience to offer high standards of care to resident equines. Both will demonstrate an understanding of the specific needs of equines on a rehabilitation programme. The charity is looking for experienced equine handlers with sound stable management skills with the ability to communicate confidently and work supportively with work colleagues and the public. The role is to complete ALL tasks in relation to the care of the horses, ponies and donkeys rescued each year by the charity, alongside handling, exercising, grooming, treating ailments, you will be responsible for ensuring that the stables, yards and paddocks are kept clean and tidy. The position holder will work an average of 42.5 hours per week on a rolling rota including alternate weekends 8am until 4.30pm, and the occasional stable night checks 8.30-9pm. Equestrian knowledge and experience is essential. BHS Qualifications or Equivalent Desirable but not Essential. All full time Equine Care Officers are offered BHS Training up to and including stage 2 as part of employment.
