Equine Hospital Intern

Valley Equine Hospital is offering two 13 month Internship positions. We offer a hands on, intense and rewarding programme that will be tailored to your future career plans. The mentorship of our Interns is led by our two in house surgeons accompanied by our ambulatory team and other boarded specialists in surgery, medicine, diagnostic imaging and anaesthesia from the wider CVS hospital network. We take great pride in the professional development of our Interns and ensure that by the time they complete our Internship, they are confident, technically proficient and independent thinkers with a wealth of experience. Our Interns alternate between anaesthesia/surgical cases and inpatient care/outpatient diagnostics. The on-call responsibility is split based on a 1 in 2 rota, with 28 days holiday and 5 days CPD. The surgeons implement a structure in which the Interns are involved closely in all hospital cases, ensuring that Interns have primary case responsibility and case continuity from admission to discharge. Our case load at VEH is predominantly a mix of Thoroughbred race horses in training and performance sports horses, with a smaller population of leisure horses. Our Internship programme is part of the BEVA recognised Internship programme which ensures our interns start their careers in a well structured, professional environment. Additionally, our Interns are members of the CVS New Graduate Programme which includes access to a BEVA Fundamentals course, enables them to attend the BEVA Congress and provides them with a New Graduate Mentor within the practice.
