The Role
We are seeking an experienced equine instructor to join our dedicated education team at HMP Haverigg. This is a fulfilling and varied role, offered on a permanent, part-time basis working 21 hours per week. We are ideally looking at someone to work Monday to Friday mornings and Monday afternoon but have some flexibility and are keen to find the right candidate. Information:
Hours will be 3.5 hours (8:30-12:00) Monday to Friday and 3.5 hours (13:15 -16:45) on a Monday afternoon.
Your week will involve the supervision of equine activities to a small group of learners (around 6 plus mentors) in our purpose-built stables and field. We currently have 3 retired racehorses and a Falabella miniature horse and have developed a programme of study which ensures learners develop the skills and knowledge to care for these animals in their retirement.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who has experience of working with horses and is eager to pass on their knowledge and skills to our eager learners. We are also looking for someone to support with the stable management to ensure our horses get the best possible care. A qualification in equine studies would be ideal, but we would provide training and qualifications for the right candidate. You'll thrive in this role if you are innovative, adaptable, and motivated to support learners from all walks of life to achieve success.
