Equi-zen is a fully registered charity dedicated to supporting young people’s mental health. Through equine-assisted therapy, physical and educational activities, we provide opportunities for young people to develop their capabilities, capacities and skills to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals. Our service is dedicated to those who are most in need and least likely to gain support elsewhere.
We are looking for a highly compassionate, organised, and motivated Project Coordinator to help us continue this vital work.
As our Project Coordinator, you’ll support our Equine-facilitated group learning courses on-site at our stables in Hanslope, Milton Keynes. In addition to this you will lead youth volunteering sessions where by the beneficiaries will learn about basic horse care as well as being supported to build connections and friendships with peers. When you are working remotely you will manage basic administrative tasks such as maintaining equipment stock, booking in clients and documenting spending.
Responsibilities:
Lead, motivate, and support small groups of young people, fostering a safe and encouraging environment.
Oversee daily program operations, ensuring sessions are well-organized and run efficiently.
Apply your equestrian knowledge to ensure horses are cared for properly and sessions are safe and beneficial.
Manage schedules and diaries to coordinate therapy sessions and team availability.
Engage with the community by updating social media to showcase our progress and inspire support.
Work closely with therapists, volunteers, and external partners to maintain high program standards.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Equestrian/horse care knowledge — This could be from formal training such as the BHS or simply having owned your own horse.
A proactive and compassionate approach, driven by a genuine desire to make a difference.
A warm and friendly disposition, particularly towards teenagers and troubled children.
Confident leading small groups, encouraging collaboration and personal growth.
Strong organizational skills, including diary management and scheduling.
An ability to self-motivate while working independently.
A full UK driving licence
Desirable Skills and Experience:
While a youth mentoring or counselling qualification is not required for this post, we would welcome applications from anyone with experience in this area.

LOCATION: Hybride between Milton Keynes and remote working
CONTRACT TYPE: Part-time 15 hours per week, £26,000 - £30,000 Pro rata equivalent
