Equine Sales is a racehorse ownership marketplace (equine-sales.com), transforming the industry by making it accessible and enjoyable for a wider audience. After recently launching our social media, we quickly realised that our current website product is limiting and doesn’t align with our long-term vision. We’re now focused on building a mobile-first app that provides a seamless user experience and drives racehorse microshare purchases. We’re seeking a passionate Technical Co-Founder with strong full-stack capabilities to lead the development of this mobile app and help shape our product’s future. Market Context: The global horse racing market was valued at USD 396.21 billion in 2022 and is projected to grow to USD 812.48 billion by 2030. In the UK, the horse racing industry contributes £4.1 billion annually, making it the second-largest sport. In Australia, 1 in 254 people own a share in a racehorse, reflecting the growing trend of micro-ownership. We see an opportunity to mirror this success in the UK using modern, tech-driven solutions. What We’re Looking For: We need a technical co-founder to lead the full-stack development of a mobile app, focusing on: • Mobile-First Development: Build a responsive mobile app using React Native or Flutter, separate from our current CMS-based website. • Backend Integration: Set up API integration with our POS system. Experience with cloud-based services and tools for building scalable APIs is essential. • Payment System: Implement secure payment gateways such as Stripe or similar services, ensuring seamless in-app transactions. • UX/UI Design: Craft a mobile-first user experience that’s intuitive and optimised for purchases and engagement. • Continuous Improvement: Use data and user feedback to refine the app and purchasing flow. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee the current website hosted on CraftCMS, ensuring seamless functionality with Stripe and other integrated APIs, while continuously improving performance and reliability. • Develop and maintain both front-end and back-end components of a mobile app. • Ensure secure, efficient integration of payment systems and cloud-based POS infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or other services). • Design a scalable solution that evolves with user needs and market demand. Who You Are: • Full-Stack Developer: Strong experience with mobile frameworks (React Native, Flutter) and backend systems (AWS, APIs). • Problem Solver: Creative thinker who thrives on overcoming technical challenges. • Long-Term Partner: Ready to grow with us, embracing the ups and downs of startup life. • Collaborative Leader: Strong communication and teamwork skills, able to guide both technical and product decisions. • Adaptable: Willing to work with evolving technologies and flexible with the choice of cloud infrastructure. • Knowledgeable: Stay current with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies. • UK-Based: You must be UK-based and open to occasional travel for in-person meetings. Why Join Us? • Ownership: Significant equity as a co-founder. • Equity-Only Compensation: At this early stage, we’re offering equity with future compensation potential. • Remote Work: This role is primarily work-from-home, offering flexibility in your schedule. However, as a UK-based company, we are seeking a co-founder who is also UK-based and open to occasional travel for in-person meetings and key events. • Creative Freedom: Lead the technical direction of the app and make a real impact from day one. Please submit your CV and cover letter with your relevant experience in mobile and full-stack development, a brief explanation of why you're motivated to join this journey and a link to your portfolio.
