The Horse Trust, the oldest horse charity in the world, was established in 1886 to help the plight of the working horses of London. Set amongst the rolling Chiltern Hills, The Horse Trust provides a sanctuary for the retirement and respite of modern-day working horses from the Police, Military, Royal Mews and other charities such as Riding for the Disabled and Horse Rangers as well as caring for equines rescued locally from abuse or neglect and in need of urgent care. In addition to providing a retirement sanctuary for 130 equines, The Horse Trust Charity is committed to promoting equine health and welfare through training professionals and funding ethical scientific research to reduce disease and suffering for the UK equine population. Position Overview: We are seeking a Part-Time Trust Officer to join our team and play a crucial role in managing and cultivating relationships with trusts and foundations. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and experience in fundraising within the charitable sector. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of horses in need and offers remote, flexible working hours. Key Responsibilities: 1. Trust and Foundation Relationship Management: - Identify and research potential trusts and foundations aligned with The Horse Trust's mission. - Develop and maintain positive relationships with existing and potential funders. - Prepare and submit compelling funding proposals and grant applications. 2. Grant Administration: - Oversee the administration of grants, ensuring compliance with funding requirements. - Provide regular updates and reports to trusts and foundations on the impact of their support. 3. Collaboration and Coordination - Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and data for grant applications and reports. - Coordinate with other fundraising and communications staff to ensure a cohesive approach to fundraising activities. 4. Donor Stewardship: - Support the Director with implementation of stewardship activities to nurture and retain trust and foundation donors. 5. Monitoring and Evaluation: - Work closely with the Director of Fundraising and Comms and Teams across the organization to assess and report on the impact of funded projects. - Provide feedback to donors on the outcomes achieved through their support. Qualifications and Experience: - Degree or equivalent experience - Proven experience in trust and foundation fundraising within the charitable sector. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Strong research and analytical skills. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
