Yard Manager

IRT specialises in the worldwide movement of horses by air with a network of offices strategically located throughout the globe and is one of the most trusted names in equine transport. We are seeking to appoint a manager to oversee the running of our equine facility just outside Newmarket. The successful applicant will have at least 5+ years proven background in managing a stud/equine premises. In addition, as horses under IRT’S care vary in breed, age, sex & discipline, it is important that the Manager is competent in handling horses of all temperaments including breeding stallions. Overview of Responsibilities: • Overseeing the daily care and management of horses on the property • Daily liaison with IRT management & personnel • Providing reports in respect to the horse’s health and well being • Management of IRT personnel on site, including the recruitment and coordination of staff • Liaison and coordination of visits by Veterinary Surgeons and Farriers • Ordering and organising delivery of feed, bedding and keeping regular stocktakes • Organising maintenance of pasture, machinery, fencing and buildings • Ensure full compliance of quarantine protocols and keep up to date daily records • Planning / coordinating feeding regimes & exercise programs • Ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety requirements by IRT personnel Successful applicants Must possess: • Sound practical knowledge of horse care requirements and solid “hands-on” horse experience • A flexible can-do attitude with excellent attention to detail • Exceptional staff management skills and the ability to work to tight timeframes • Understand and implement Health & Safety processes • IT skills, not limited to but including Horse Management Software, email, word and excel • Be eligible to live and work in the UK and have a full driving licence This is a full-time permanent role.
